Reprocessed, by Matt Patterson

Something approaching a weblog

maintenance

*tap tap* Is this thing on?

A test message to see what's going on with my MT install and simple template issues...

*squeal* Er, yes, it is...

It is on. Testing multiple-posts-in-one-day for the purposes of template tweaking

Some stuff is unfinished

I've got the basics of this new site working. I've got the blog running, but I need to sort out comments (design-wise) and trackbacks (design- and head-wise), plus a good bit of the typography. As far as the rest of the site goes: I need to finish reworking the front page, and figure out what to do with the rest of the existing content (it's mostly in XML now, from the last big ideological push (actually, it's mostly in XHTML 2...)).

Comments are on

I've switched comments on for new entries now. The UI still has a ways to go, and I might devote some time to it later on today. Once that's done I'll open up the rest of the entries and wait for the comment spammers. Trackbacks are following shortly behind.

Feeds galore

I've had a couple of feeds (RSS 1 and RSS 2) lurking around undocumented for a while, and I've finally put them somewhere sensible. Plus, I've added an Atom feed.

Monkeying about

In the last couple of days I've tweaked the CSS and upgraded the Atom feed to be valid Atom 1.0.

Back from elsewhere

So, reprocessed.org was dead for nearly a week. Whoops.

Shuffling the furniture

There will be some brief downtime later this week as I mess about with the server.

Bloodied but unbowed

So, the 'little' downtime has been most of a week, which kind of serves me right for buggering around with my server so much when I had other things to do.

Chipping away

Progress! just about everything which ought to have a proper page now has real placeholder content instead of whatever similarly named file was hanging around. Although, this may not be progress and may just be slipping into the mire some more.

For the FTP bot's sake

More news (of sorts) — I'm actually having a day off, on Monday when Clare and I are going into London to look round an exhibition and eat a picnic in a park and those kind of things (apparently Selfridges has a good Japanese food section, so we're going there. I may even persuade Clare into Wagamama...) [actually this is relatively old news, but my automated upload thing removes the blog so I have to republish, so I wrote another post...]

Bobby socks

Clare's landlord had said they could stay a week past the end of their lease, but then forgot and let the new people move in today. We were up 'til 2 am packing up and clearing out, but we're still going to London today. Also, spent a while yesterday sorting out minor (and major) un-noticed errors on the site... I also got the Bobby validator from CAST and, hurrah, it all validates. Some weirdnesses which may warrant a small article on the point at which responsibility for accessibility falls on the client...

Fixing stuff

Yeah, okay, a month. I fixed the wrong colours in the writings, a really obvious typo on the front page and noticed a whole bunch of other things which make my QA look really shitty. I'll get on it, but first I'm having a holiday. Back soon. I know that the page claims to be posts from a certain period, but that's all hack - as far as I know there's no way to make Blogger do that. As soon as I get XSLT figured out, I'm leaving Blogger behind, though it's been good to me.

Finding more holes to fix

Oh god, I just did a bit more looking around and the website's full of holes! I'll fix it up soon I promise. Anyway, I suppose I really ought to write a CV sometime soon too...

Essays & Dissertations & CVs (oh my)

Look Ma, more content! But wait... look, Ma, poor QA and incomplete CSS updates...

Say hi to the new site

So, I've finally shipped a new version of reprocessed.org. It's essentially a prototype -- I did the least possible work to get something up and running, so there's a load of stuff missing (comments, primarily), but hopefully I've got a platform to build the fun and interesting things I've wanted to build but couldn't make Movable Type do (at least, do easily enough).

Apparently I need to tell you that the feeds moved after all

For those of you who subscribe to the feeds...

It looks like a lot of feed readers don't follow permanent redirects sent by servers, and I changed the location of my feeds and used permanent redirects to tell your feed readers about the change, which I thought would make the transition seamless, and I would be able to bask in the glory of having done something right for a change...

Alas, this doesn't seem to be the case. Please update your feed readers. They should be able to automatically find the correct address if you visit http://reprocessed.org/. If not, then the new feed is at http://feeds.feedburner.com/reprocessed.

Thanks, and sorry for the hassle.
