Going the distance is another (and earlier) example of work carried out as part of the 'Professional Assignments' scheme. It was a report on Fathers, Fatherhood and Health visiting carried out by a member of the Department of Professional Education in Community Studies, Robert Williams. He came to the department because he wanted this to have more impact than such reports would usually have. The typography's main job was to articulate the author's reporting style, contrasting the tone of the main body of the report with the tone of extracts from comments by Fathers who took part in the report's study.
