Ministry of Space
This Warren Ellis three-part comic has finally had its third and last part published. I didn't know anything about this series -- the first two parts were published a long time ago, during my comics hiatus -- but luckily they've published an omnibus edition containing the first two parts.
The basic premise is that the RAF nabbed the German rocket scientists at Peenemunde, not the Americans, with the result that the sun never set on the British Empire.
It looks like Dan Dare, but under the surface it's much blacker. Like each Global Frequency issue, this series is a what-if one-liner taken to its logical extremes. The punchline is good, and I won't reveal anything here. If you're a fan of Dan Dare and the subversion of techno-utopian-imperialism, then this series is well worth checking out.
There's a thread on Barbelith about it which started in 2001 when the first two parts came out, which is nice
